In this lesson, students revise the tenses by discussing pictures about the twentieth century and matching them with specific dates. Then, they practice listening for gist by deciding which picture the conversation is taking about. Next, Students listen for details to correct what they have filled in the blanks. Finally they discuss what they heard and the new words they learnt.


A Murder Story

Elementary level

This is a listening and reading lesson focused on utilizing the <b>past</b> tense and <b>past</b> tense verbs in the regular and irregular. The context is a murder mystery story, that gets the students listening and reading for gist and detail. Activities include visuals for eliciting and setting the context as well as true and false Q's, along with listening and drilling procedures.


Teaching Practice Points 2 - 'Look'

Upper intermidiate - b2 level

In this lesson, the context will be fashion. The students will briefly discuss the importance of appearance and whether or not they keep up with fashion trends. The students will learn to differentiate expressions with 'look' where it is used to describe an appearance or where it is used as a verb tense. They will listen to two conversations where 'look' is utilised and practice telling the difference between the two.

Beginner level

In this lesson, the students will be introduced to the positive form of the <b>simple</b> <b>past</b> tense. Students will be introduced to both regular and irregular <b>past</b> tense verbs. The lesson will be focused on introducing the meaning, form, and pronunciation of this language as well as providing some controlled and semi-controlled practice in the context of a journey.

Intermediate /grade: 6 level

In this lesson students are going to learn how to write a profile about themselves or some one. The lesson starts with making profile questions then in a pair work activity they will ask each other questions and write a profile about his or her friend. The lesson finishes with swapping the written profile and speaking activities.

Upper intermediate level

In this lesson, students revise the verb tenses and they learn 'Tag Questions'. The lesson starts with an icebreaker activity which helps students interact with each other. Then, they learn the MFPs of the target language. After that, students do some exercises about the target language. As a post activity, students use tag questions to guess about each other's lives.

Students will begin with an introduction to vocabulary related to natural events. They will match words to their corresponding images. They will discuss whether any of these events occur in their country. They will then listen to an audio of two people talking about their experience during two different natural events and respond to questions. Elementary level

In this lesson, students will learn <b>past</b> <b>simple</b> tense irregular verbs in the context of celebrations. Students will realize regular and irregular verbs through guided discovery and then practice the irregular verbs with controlled and semi-controlled (game) tasks. At the end of the lesson, the students will produce the <b>past</b> <b>simple</b> tense using regular/irregular verbs.
