Description

In this lesson, students will learn some vocabulary about types of transport through a guided discovery based on a power point slides.The lesson starts with setting the context of transportation getting students to take about which means of transport they use.This is followed by getting students to listen and repeat the words. Then the students are divided into pairs to talk about some questions and discuss them.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (4-6 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

The teacher asks the students to sit in half a circle in front of their tables and asks them to think of a place, a city, a town or a country they have visited before, what was the place, how did they go. Students are told to think about the streets, what they can see there, what they can see in the sea, the land, or the sky? students work in pairs to speak together about the place they have visited and how they move from one place to another The teacher asks the students to think about any words they have seen there in that place and on a piece of paper write as many words as they can.

Exposure (6-9 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

-The students are asked now to look at the list of words they have written down. -The Teacher tells the students that they will choose some of the vocabulary they have written down. -The students are asked to tell the teacher the vocabulary and the teacher writes them on the board. -The teacher asks the students to read the words on the board silently and find out if they have any strange or unknown words. it . The teacher elicit the words they don't know by asking some question

Useful Language (5-8 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

The teacher now asks the students that they are going to say the word as a group and the teacher will repeat after the class. Students look at the words and say it as a group one by one and the teacher repeat after them. The teacher then asks the students to choose some of the vocabulary they don't know how to pronounce and say the repeat after him or her. students have the freedom to chose any words that refer to means of transport

Productive Task(s) (5-8 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

The teacher at this stage of the lesson asks the students to write one sentence it may be short or long as they decide they need to use some of the words ton the board. the students then read the sentence to each other students again repeats their sentences and the teacher repeat after -the teacher asks some sentences the students to repeat with him.

Feedback and Error Correction (6-8 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

_Students now listen to the words and repeat the words about transport _then the teacher shows the class some questions _the teacher presents the word" popular " to let students understand the question _Students are asked to work in pairs and choose three questions to ask and answer about What type of transport is popular in your town/country? How do you come to the English course? What type of transport do you use when you go on holiday? Where do people go for a walk in your country? Do you sometimes go for a walk ride? What's your favorite type of transport? Students then change partners and ask and answer again.

Productive Task(s) (3-5 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

the teacher asks students to write a sentence using one of the means of transport like bus,taxi,train,plane,ship,bike...etc the first two finishers are asked to stand in front of the board when the teacher say the word they begin to write it fast the teacher repeat the competition with the rest of the class highlighting the means of transport for the sentences they write.
