Description

In this lesson Ss will learn how to use different time expressions in the context of eating habits. As a lead-in T will review the food vocabulary and then T will explain to Ss how to use time expressions in a sentence and then she will briefly work on the Q form as well.

Materials

Abc small cards
Abc Survey

Main Aims

  • To teach Ss what are the time expressions & how to use them in sentences.

Subsidiary Aims

  • Ss will be given the golden opportunity to speak in the context of time expressions.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (2-0 minutes) • To review the vocabulary in terms of food

T will quickly show some pictures to Ss and elicit the words from Ss. T will also check if the Ss have problems with pronunciation

To present words such as day/week & etc (2-3 minutes) • To make the meaning of the words clear for Ss

T will show some pictures of morning/week & etc to Ss and ask them what are they. Then she will elicit the answers from Ss. T will drill the words and the she will write them on the WB. when Ss get the meaning,T will move on the next stage.

Time expressions (7-10 minutes) • To teach what the time expressions are and clarify the meaning as well

To set context T will show a picture of pizza,then elicit it from Ss. T will work on the pronunciation of the word as well. T will stick some pizza on some parts of day/week/month chart to show the meaning of once/twice &etc. T will elicit them from Ss. T will drill the the adverbial of time.

Substitution drill (5-7 minutes) • To practice more of the time expressions

T will tell a sentence the she will show different small cards & Ss will change the part which T had given to them. "Small cards include different part of speech (noun/verb/time expressions/etc)"

Matching (6-8 minutes) • To focus more on the time expressions in the sentences

T will give Ss the small cards with different part of speech and ask them to work in pair or group of three to put the words in a right order. Then they have to come to the WB & stick them there.

Question form "how often" (5-7 minutes) • To teach Ss how to use how often in the question

T will give an example then play a role with one of the Ss to clarify this survey. The survey consists of 5 how often questions which Ss are going to fill the gaps by proper nouns according to the verbs given. then Ss will mingle and try to ask other Ss the Qs.

Game (5-7 minutes) • To Practice more of the Q form of how often

T will give Ss some cards with nouns on them for example beer & ask Ss to work in pair & ask their partners the Q how often do you.....? Ss must choose a proper verb related to each word & answer the Qs as well.

Game (5-6 minutes) • To practice more of the time expressions

T will write all the time expressions on the WB n divide Ss into two groups. T will say the time expressions & Ss must erase the time expression they will hear immediately.
