In this lessson SS will be indroduced to times and days. They will also plan out their daily routines.

Materials

  • To provide clarification and practice words that they use in their daily routines .

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide clarification of the prepositions of time : at and on

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-8 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Fast introduction to days have flash cards monday to friday Have random SS stand up and place the days of the week in proper order. Then Draw a Clock on the WB show SS half past, quartar past, quartar to and o'clock Give SS two examples asking questions Whats the day today ? what time did you wake up ? what time did you come to school?

Exposure (5-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

handout gap-fill exercise Give SS the answers and have them check their answers together. Give the SS Second Gap-fill activity Give students the answers have them check if their right or wrong.

Highlighting (8-10 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

Have SS look at the exercise on their daily routines. Look at the all vocabulary and introduce words they don't understand. Have SS tick and cross out the the things they ''do'' and ''don't do'' . Then place them in pairs and have them ask each other questions ''do you ''? then change them when their done .

Controlled Practice (10-15 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Have SS look at exercise 2 and fill in their daily routines on the 24 hour clock. Have SS work in pairs and ask each other 2 questions using ''do you '' and ''what time'', give out a paper for them to fill out. Then answer the question paper they got with the answers that they are from a fellow student. Letting them walk around and ask their questions to each other.
