In this lesson students will listen about people spending their time during weekend. Students will practise speaking about things they do often and never. Students will learn about past forms of Past Simple.

Main Aims

  • To provide gist and detailed listening practice using a text about Spending last weekend in the context of Tree people talking about last Saturday

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide accuracy speaking practice in a Dialog in the context of Last weekend

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-8 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T will do brief lead -in by talking about weekend. What do I do on weekends? generally What did i do last Saturday. T will as Ss to work in pairs T will give to Ss handouts with pictures about different actions. The handout will be folded so first T will ask Ss to guess what in on the pictures. After this T will ask SS to open the picture and match pictures with phrases. WC feedback. T will give to student Magazine handout and make sure that student understand frequencies often and never. T will ask Ss to do the quiz alone . After finishing the quiz T will ask students to stand up and mingle in order to ask and answer questions.

Pre-Reading/Listening (3-5 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

T will introduce some of past form that we can find in the text . T will draw simple scheme: PAST ----------------------------Present Yesterday Now Last Saturday Today T will use verbs (go-went, meet -met, cook -cooked, be-was). T will put verbs into context with sentences: She often (goes) to the cinema on weekends. She (went) to the cinema last Saturday. I will (meet) John today at 7 o clock. I (met) Kate Yesterday. We had lunch. She usually (cooks) soup for lunch. It was me who (cooked) lunch yesterday.

While-Reading/Listening #1 (5-10 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

T will ask student to listen and then T will give handouts to do exercise 1 Reading and listening Last Saturday. Working in pairs.. Listen to check.

While-Reading/Listening #2 (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

T will give to students find the correct word handout. T will give 1 minute to read. T will play listening 2 times. WC feedback.

Post-Reading/Listening (10-12 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

T will give to Ss handout for speaking. T will give to SS 1 -2 minute to think. T will ask Ss to mingle and ask each other questions.
