Description

In this lesson, students will learn about shops and shopping baskets in order to analyze the changing eating habits of British people. It concludes that British diet is being replaced by a healthier, more Mediterranean diet.

Procedure

Lead-in (3-6 minutes) • To get the Ss interested in the topic

T will show the Ss a list of some junk food and organic food\ healthy food. T will ask the students to choose some of these goods and put them in a shopping basket. T will ask the students about the reasons why they have chosen these items.

Pre-Reading (3-4 minutes) • Setup the context of the topic

T will review the vocabulary with the Ss by showing the vocabulary on one side and the pictures on on the other side. Ss will match the word with the picture.

Reading for gist and scanning (7-10 minutes) • Ss will practice reading for gist or to get the main idea

- T will handout the reading text with the first two exercises tasks. - T will ask the Ss to read the whole text only to know what is it about. - T will ask the Ss What kind of food was being replaced by the traditional British foods ? - T will ask the Ss to read the first two paragraphs of the article to and then answer the first exercise in pairs. - T will give FB

Reading for scanning/ for specific information (7-10 minutes) • to develop Ss reading skills

- T will ask the students to read the text and then answer the second exercise in pairs. -T will as the Ss to discuss their answers in groups. - T will give WCFB.

Speaking (8-10 minutes) • To get the Ss to use the TL

- T will ask the Ss to read the third exercise. - Ss will discuss exercise 3 in groups - T will monitor while Ss are discussing. - Ss will answer the questions - T will give her FB

Matching Information to paragraph (3-5 minutes) • to improve reading skills

- T will explain to Ss that she will give some HO. - Ss should match information to paragraphs. - T will take the Ss FB, then she will give her FB
