Procedure

Warmer (7-10 minutes) • To demonstrate the "There is/ there are" structures.

Students will be shown four pictures of pens, pencils, tables, chairs and windows ,and I will model two sentences and then elicit some more sentences from them. Then I will write the two sentences on the board and drill them in different ways.

Highlighting of form and clarification (5-7 minutes) • To draw the students attention to the forms.

Two sentences will be written on the board and students will be asked about the difference between the two sentences. "There + is + noun" and "There + are + noun" will be written on the board I will tell them that "there is " is used with singular nouns, and " there are" with plural nouns. Then I will focus on the pronunciation. I will drill some sentences focusing on the stress. I will elicit the form from the students and write it on the board, trying to elicit some more examples. I will give them some sentences and ask them to correct me if I am wrong. Two negative sentences will be written on the board and I will drill them.

Controlled practice • To prepare students for using the structures.

Two incomplete sentences will be put on the wall and students will be asked to complete them. The correct answers will be put on the board. Then, students will be given an activity in which they will be asked to rearrange some sentences to give meaningful ones. Students will do this activity individually and then they will be asked to check their answers in pairs. After that, answer keys will be given to them to check their answers.

Semi controlled and free practice (7-8 minutes) • To provide students will free practice of the target language

Students will be given some pictures and will be asked to work in groups to come up with sentences about the pictures using the target language. I will ask each group to give me at least two sentences. Feed back will be given and error correction will be on the spot. During this discussions, the question form will be elicited.

Introducing the students to another structure (6-8 minutes) • To introduce students to questions using "Is there/ are there" and their answers

Students will be shown a picture of students in the classroom and will be asked direct questions like "Is there a tiger in the class?" "Are there four girls in the class?" "Is + there +noun" and "Are + there + any + noun" will be written on the board to introduce the form. I will drill some questions to drill the students' attention to the stressed part of the question. Then the structure will be written on the board and students will be asked to make other questions. After that, students will be shown some more pictures and will be asked to make questions.

controlled practice (7-8 minutes) • To practice using the form in the target language

Students will be given some sentences and will be asked to make questions . They will be asked to work in groups. There will be a model example on the board. Students will be given time and then they will be asked to mingle and check their answers with other people. Key answers will be written on the board.

Semi controlled and free practice (5-7 minutes) • Students will be given an opportunity to practice the form in the target language more freely

Students will be asked to sit in groups again and then each group will be given five cards. Students will be asked to ask each other about the cards. I will monitor the students and take some notes. There will be no interference even if there were mistakes. When the students finish, I will discuss some mistakes with them without mentioning who made these mistakes.

Free practice (8-10 minutes) • To let the students practice all what they have learned freely.

Students will be asked to work in pairs and ask their partners questions about the existed things in their houses. Then, they mingle and choose other students and tell them about their partner's answers. There will be a model for the students to follow. Questions will also be written on the board.
