In this lesson, s will learn the past simple verbs and this is the first time, s are exposed to this grammar.T will set up a crystal clear context for the grammar by using timeline. T will CCQ and drill them immediately. Afterwards, T will ask s to do a matching practice with the past simple verbs.T will write the sentences on WB and ask ss to use the put the appropriate past form of the verbs.

Procedure

warm lead-in (5-6 minutes) • to engage ss in the topic of simple past

T will draw the timeline and use years to help them to understand past and with the aid of visuals,T sets up a clear context. This must be done very efficiently. Afterwards T will CCQ very simple past verbs . T will use WB and divides the WB in two parts, one for regular and the other for irregular verbs. T will highlight the use of "ed" for regular verbs to help them understand the difference between regular and irregular forms. T have s drill the verbs.

listening task (3-5 minutes) • to practice the form of simple past verbs

SS will listen to the audio 2.17 on page 55. This activity serves a purpose to practice the simple past form of the verbs. Ss check in their groups. T will have the whole class feedback.

post listening (5-6 minutes) • to provide more chance to practice simple past form of the verbs

T will distribute HOs and Ss in their group match the present form with the appropriate simple past form. This task will give them more chance to practice the input in small lexical chunks. T will have FB. Afterwards, Ss should write the simple past form in their right columns either regular or irregular

game (2-3 minutes) • to practice the simple past form in the compeitive atomosphere

T will ask ss to throw the ball to each other and say the present form of the verb, then the student who has the ball says the past form of the verb. it goes on like as a game.

matching practice (5-6 minutes) • to provide an opportunity to practice the simple past verbs in a sentence

Ss will practice the correct use of simple past form in the correct sentence in the context of last weekend activities. T Will ask Ss to write the simple past forms in No 2 in the correct number in exercise 4. T will have FB

extention activity (4-5 minutes) • to provide an opportunity to practice the simple past verbs in a sentence in light of Pronouns

T will give clear-cut instructions for task 1 on page 55. Beforehand, he makes a model by writing Andre, olga and Andre and Olga on the WB and do the first one. Then, in their groups they do the task. Afterwards, T ask Ss to come and write each of the sentences on WB below the right column.

pre-speaking (5-10 minutes) • to provide an opportunity to practice the simple past verbs in a sentence in light of Pronouns

T writes three time adverbials, yesterday, last week, last month, last year. T will ask Ss to write three sentences of their own on their papers to practice the past simple sentences. T will check this in their groups. Afterwards, T will ask S to read sentences T will check their pronunciation.

Speaking task (5-10 minutes) • to provide an opportunity to speak the simple past verbs

T will change the groups in order to make it more interesting for Ss. T will ask Ss to talk what they did in the past using the previous simple past sentences they learned. Afterwards, T asks students to tell what their partner said. before that, T should focus on the pronoun He and She to clarify it. T will model first.
