Description

In this lesson, Students will practice speaking through a guided discovery based on a text of choosing an airline agency. Students will start the lesson by speaking about their favourite airline company, mentioning the facilities or option they provide for the passengers. Students will design some adverts for their favourite company. Students will read advert with on the wall and choose the most attractive ones. Students will sit together in groups and each one will speak about his favourite airline agency.

  • To practice debating skills in the context of having an airline agency.

  • To review functional language of giving opinions.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (4-6 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Ss Will speak about their favourite airline company to a partner, mentioning the facilities they provide for passengers to make them use their company and compete other agencies.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

Ss sit in groups, they will try first to design their own adverts of an air line agency, they will speak about the options they could provide for passengers, then they will move around the class, read airlines adverts around the class. Ss will choose an attractive adverts and speak about it, they could use it in designing their advert, they will mention why do they choose them?

Useful Language (8-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

Ss will sit into two groups, watching a video of a debate, Ss write down useful phrases they could use in a debate. Each group will agree on one airline company, they could give it a name, write down the options it provides for passengers.

Productive Task(s) (12-14 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

Staying in the same group, and choosing one advert, each group will speak about their agency, arguing and debating the other groups, trying to convince them that their agency is the best. At the end of the debate, Ss may agree on one agency seeing that it is the best. T will monitor the Ss writing down their common mistakes to be corrected afterwards.

Feedback and Error Correction (3-5 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

Teacher will write on the board the Ss mistakes and correct them asking the student to repeat them.
