Description

In thıs lesson, students wıll practıce readıng for specıfı ınformatıon. They wıll learn some vocabulary. They wıll also practıse speakıng for fluency. Fırst, the context wıll be set on the board.A dıscusssıon wıll be followed then new vocabulary wıll be ıntroduced.Stıdents wıll be asked to read the text and controlled dıscussıons wıll be followed.

Main Aims

  • • By the end of the lesson students wıll have practısed readıng for deducıng meanıng and speakıng for fluency as well ın the context of a story.

Subsidiary Aims

  • • To practıse usıng new vocabulary

Procedure

warm up (4-6 minutes) • Get Ss interested in the topic

Students will be shown a number of pictures that tell a story and will be asked to speak about the pictures.

Presenting vocabulary (7-8 minutes) • introducing new vocabulary

New vocabulary will be introduced using miming, giving definition and short stories in order to elicit the meaning from the students.

Reading (8-10 minutes) • Students read the text

Students will be asked to read the text and then they will be asked to a question. Time will be given to them to discuss the answer in pairs. There will be no right or wrong answer since it depends on their own opinions.

scanning (10-15 minutes) • Students read the text foe specific information

Students will be asked to read the text again in order to answer a set of questions.They will be asked to work individually. They will be given a longer time to read for specific information. When they finish, an answer key will be shown to them on a power point slide.

Summarizing (10-15 minutes) • Students read and summrise

Students will be asked to read the text for the last time and write three sentences about the two main characters of the story. They will be asked in pairs. When they finish, they will be asked to share their writing in groups.Notes may be taken during monitoring and common mistakes, if there are any, will be discussed on the board.

Further reading (10-15 minutes) • Students read for further information

Students will be asked to read a second part of the story to know what happened next. They will be asked to answer a previous question again and tell the teacher if they changed their mind about their previous answer or not. They will be asked to discuss their opinion in pairs first.

Free discussion (6-8 minutes) • Students speak fluently

Students will be asked an open question about some thing could happen next. They will be asked to discuss freely in freely in groups. When they finish, they will be given a short paragraph that will show them the answer.
