Description

in this lesson, students will learn basic verbs and nouns that are somehow related to hobbies. As a lead-in, ss will write the names of their favorite music, film and so on. Then they will go through the listening tasks relevant to topic of verbs and nouns and T will check their activities. There are two listening activities and T, for the sake of variety, will put two different activities, say, GW and the second is board rush game. they will follow this up with another mingles class activity matching basic verb with expressions

Main Aims

  • To practice listening for gist using basic vocabularies and nouns about daily routines in the context of hobbies

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide review and practice of daily routines verbs, nouns and expressions in the context of hobbies

Procedure

Lead-in (2-5 minutes) • to engage ss in the topic

T gives S HOs and asks them to write the names of their Turkish actors, films,books and elicit some response before that T writes his.

pre-listening (2-5 minutes) • to prepare ss for the listening task

T will mime the verbs in the box and elicit the right answer and T have them drill the verbs. Afterwards in the whole class activity, S will match verb with pics.

Gist listening (5-10 minutes) • to provide and to practice the verbs they have learned

T will ask s to listen to the first listening and match the verbs they have learned with nouns. ss check in groups WCF

detailed listening (5-10 minutes) • to provide ss with challenging detailed listeneing

T will ask S to do the second task of listening but this time for detailed. They work in their groups. Check in their groups. Then T will have WCF

game and pre-listening task (5-10 minutes) • to add more variety to the class and cheer them up

S turn the page over. T have them stand up to carry out the game of board rush. T will stick the pics of nous on the white board and put them in three groups. afterwards, T will have them drill the words.

Listening for details (2-5 minutes) • to practice the nouns and expression they have learned

S will listen to the audio in 1.61 to check their answers in their groups. Then T will have WCF

post listening (5-10 minutes) • to provide an opportunity to practice the nouns and verbs at the same time

To complete section b on p 30, T will give s two separate group of papers and ask them not to turn them over till his command is given. Then, T asks them to stand up and move around in order to find which word match which noun , then standing on the corner. WCF

Extension (5-6 minutes) • to provide more chance to practice in larger lexical chunks

T will spread a group of three different papers on the floor. T asks s to make a sentence like, "I watch tv". before that T should model one example to clarify. T commands student to make sentences with papers.
