Procedure

Lead In/Warm Up (0-3 minutes) • To introduce topic of meeting friends and places we meet them and activate schemata

T will ask Ss "Do you have friends" This will follow on well from Laura's activity. "Does anyone not have friends?" "Who doesn't have friends?"

Pre Read (5-10 minutes) • CCQ and elicit verbs for post read

T elicits the following verbs from the Ss by asking them questions like "Where do you see friends" "Where do we meet friends?""What do you do with friends?" meet,live,talk,go,watch,play "What do you do with your friends" Ss say things like "Watch a film" "Go to the cinema" (consider WB management )

While reading (5-7 minutes) • 1/Reading for gist-

Ss are arranged into pairs (If T needs to freshen Ss up, can regroup here) T hands out text to Ss. (HO-1) T writes 4 meeting places on the board the lake, the town square, the park, the mall, at home. Ss have to find which paragraph fits which meeting place. After time i up T can feedback with these "where do the girls meet in Abu Dhabi" T writes "At Home". "Where do the guys meet in Dallas" T writes "The Mall" "Where do friends like to meet in Hanoi" T writes "The Lake" "Where do the old men go in Florence" T writes the town square. CCQ- window shopping if it comes up

While Reading 2 (5-10 minutes) • To find specific info

T asks Ss to get into pairs - can regroup here if necessary T gives instruction that Ss will have 5 mins to match 4 sentences to blanks in pairs T gives out HO 2 T chests demo of writing blanks. 'but i hate computers' / 'because we like a walk before dinner" / "I don't like busy places - i prefer to be outdoors" / "We love parties" T Monitors then T elicits the answers in WCFB

Post Read 1 (5-8 minutes) • Vocabulary and the productive task of writing practice

T gives the Ss HO3 The verb parts are blank T reminds Ss of the verbs on the WB T chest demos the first one Ss then work in pairs and speak to each other to figure out which verb goes where T then WCFB the answers

Post Read 2- If Time (5-10 minutes) • Allow the SS to practice speaking for fluency (productive task)

T asks students to write 3 sentences about themselves using the verbs sheet they just did/ S have 3 mins to write/ T then asks them all to stand up and find another Ss who is like them= a mingle activity/ T monitors and pulls out any corrections T can do some delayed correction here if time with watch go talk play
