Exposure (2-4 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through listening

After explaining the activity on the board, T. gives the HO needed for the listening activity. *T asks Ss to listen and tick the table. *T uses ICQs like "Do we write something here?/ Am I a man or a woman?" *If necessary T. plays the recording again and checks the answers with their partner and then WC.

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

* T plays the recording again asks Ss to put the conversation in the correct order after checking the instructions with ICQs like "Are we writing here?" "Are we putting a tick here?". * Ss puts the conversation in the correct order and checks their answers first in pairs then WC. * Ss practise the converstion (reading it out as pairs). * T underlines the questions and the short answers here.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

* T. writes "Do you like football?" "Yes,I do". - "Do you like swimming? No, I don't" on the WB and shows how the auxiallary "do" is used to form the question and short answers +/- . * T. writes some more example questions on the board (M/F). ? Do you like basketball? + Yes, I do - No, I don't and cleans 1st auxiallary "Do" , then + short answer's "do" and - "don't".. to check the concept (F). * T. writes a few more gap fill sentences on board and elicits the answers. * For P., T plays the recording 2.11 asks Ss to listen and notice how the words connect, drills, checks and shows on the WB.

Controlled Practice (3-5 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

* T. gives HO 1, Ss underline, they check WC * T. gives HO 2 after giving instructions on the board. ICQs * Ss fill in the gaps, check with their partners then WC.

Semi-Controlled Practice (10-12 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

* T gives HO, gives instructions, check them with ICQs. * Ss complete the questions and write their answers. * Ss ask the questions to their partners. * Ss stand up, make two lines facing each other, asks the same questions but this time if the answer is "No" they add "What do you like?" T. models the activity. Ss ask and answer the questions until they do the activity with everyone in the class.
