Description

In this lesson, the sts will learn about wedding and the things that evolve around this special occasion. We will cover some vocabulary that is related to a wedding, and mostly have speaking related discussions about this topic. Also, I will lead in with my wedding presentation to motivate the sts into the lesson. I will provide lots of questions to sts to speak and discuss in PW. Lastly, I will provide a text about a wedding, then ask them to discuss and speak about the traditions they have in their country.

Main Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a discussion about weddings.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide review of wedding related words in the context of Wedding and Marriage.

Procedure

Powerpoint the pictures of my wedding pictures (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students in the lesson

Pictures of my wedding displayed, showing the place where it took place. My wedding dress and my husband, live music, the people dancing, etc.....

Vocabulary displaying the images and a (3-7 minutes) • To provide a model of production to create idea and stimulate speaking.

Vocabulary will be displayed by pictures on the whiteboard, along with the answer key. Then, there will be a fill in the blank short story provided in the book. Then a mind map will be created to evolve around the word 'wedding'. What can you see at a wedding.....people, food, music, things,etc....

Speak about wedding (5-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language producing productive use of speaking.

Productive Task(s) (18-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills and speaking

I will PW the sts to start a discussion about wedding they have been to recently. I will have them close their eyes, then I will create a image in their mind. While this is happening, I will dialouge questions or sentences to stimulate schemata. There will be a text from the book cut and given to them. Then they wll gist read for 15 seconds, to have a general idea of the text. After they read, they will discuss wedding traditions in their country. THen they will speak in groups of 3 or 2 PW and have

Feedback and Error Correction (5-10 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

While they are speaking I will write what I hear on the board to make correction at the end of the lesson. There I will provide feedback and ECC

Invitation (3-7 minutes) • speak by inviting their friends

Plan B (optional) Invitation Cards while provide a model.... Date, Location, Time of the wedding, on the WB. They will have 2 min to prepare then invite their friends by speaking aloud to invite them.
