Description

In this lesson sts learn about the past forms of regular verbs (-d/-ed) through a speaking activity and then they're supposed to practice it with the pronunciation activity.

Materials

Abc hand outs of the activities, colourful cards

Main Aims

  • To introduce and give practice pronouncing ed endings in the past tense form of regular verbs

Subsidiary Aims

  • To help students practice speaking about a former teacher they liked at school.

Procedure

Lead-in • To review the negative and affirmative sentences in Past Simple

I'll give them some sentences which are in wrong order and they will order them correctly so that they can remind eachother how we form the negative and affirmative sentences in the simple past tense.

Exposure & highlighting • they will recognize the regular V2 forms within the song, pronouncing ed correctly

they are going to listen Adel's song "set fire to the rain" so as to recognize the V2 forms of some regular verbs. then they will do some practice, drilling on the verbs on their handouts from the straightforwar sts book. after that they are going to play the "line" game . They will be a line and if they hear the sound /t/ they will step to the left if they hear the sound /ıd/ a step to right they'll step in the middle if they hear the sound /d/. First l'll demonstrate so as to make them get the point. Then they'll be pairs and one of them will act as a teacher the other as a student they'll do the activity again by changing partners

Clarification • to have them use the structures and pronunciation of Past Formed Sentences

(Depending on time) we are going to start with pair discussion about the films to do with schools, teachers. then they're going to share their partners' ideas with the whole class. the sts will think about a former teacher they liked and then they're supposed to answer some questions and they will become groups to describe their answers about their favourite teacher.
