Description

In this lesson, the students will read an articles about different kinds of food in the context of " A traveler's tale". They will also look at the vocabulary which supports this topic.

Materials

Main Aims

  • To provide gist, scan and detailed reading with activities that will enhance the reading skills for students.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a discussions and to provide clarification of new words

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (7-9 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

- warming up with some animals and to ask them - matching pictures and words exercise. - do you have these animals in your country? how do you feel about them. - I will start setting up the context of A traveller's tale by Eliciting.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

- Students will read the text quickly and they will do he following: - students will match slips of papers (each will have part of the story) to put the story in the right order. - What was Belinda frightened of? what was the receptionist frightened of?

Clarification (4-5 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

- to elicit the meaning of the following words form the text frightened: (adjective), feeling fear or worry. pick up : (phrasal verb), to answer the phone - Students to drill the words - http://dictionary.cambridge.org

Controlled Practice (4-5 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Students will read the text again quickly and the will answer the questions.

Semi-Controlled Practice (5-7 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

student will read in turn parts of the text and do play role in pairs Student A , Student B

Free Practice (3-5 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Students will discuss in groups about their own language if there is any words that do learners mix up
