Description

The lesson starts with matching the questions with the answers to form jokes . Then, students will be given situations and think what to say. Next, students will do card games about direct and indirect speech. After that students will do a survey . they will be given four topics and ask them to choose one of them and ask people in the class.

Main Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation / survey in the context of asking questions about different topics .e.g. food- shopping

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide product writing practice of a survey in the context of food/shopping

Procedure

Lead in (6-8 minutes) • To prepare students to the new topic and add interest to the lesson

Teacher divide the class into 2 groups (A &B) gives A the 9 questions and B answers . have the one who has the questions say aloud the question and the othe student in group B respond . Tr . gves ICQs and check.

Semi controlled practice (6-8 minutes) • To practice asking and answering questions using direct and indirect speech

Tr . gives students cards one with picture and othe sentnces . asks students to work in pairs ask and answer using the cards . Tr. ICCQs and check

Controlled Practice (6-8 minutes) • Students will be able to ask questions using could you , would you mind

Tr. divides students into 4 groups and gives each group a situation . have them look at the situations and think what they want to say , they have to use could you tell me - would you mind -can I ask. Tr. ICCQs & CCQs

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • Students will be able to write direct and indirect questions

Tr . asks students to work in groups and do the survey ,they have to strat with indirect questions then continue with direct questions . Tr. asks them to work in groups again and plan how to tell the result of the surveyTr. gives example . Tr. ICCQs and CCQs.
