Procedure

Lead-in (5-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Instructions: Ok, so today we will be talking about the family handout given to you. In pairs please discuss the names of the father, mother, sister and brother. ICQ: Who is Susan? Who is David? Who is Angela? Who is Michael? Task: Students work in pairs. Pair Check: Feedback: Will have SS go up to the board.

Pre-Teach/Vocabulary (10-10 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible; to teach any blocking vocabulary.

Gist Listening (5-5 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist to get an overall idea

Instructions: Ok, so today we will be reading about the family handout given to you. In pairs please discuss if the story is normal? ICQ: Do your have to listen to every word? Is the situation normal or abnormal? Task: Students listen and answer q's. Pair Check: Monitor SS Feedback: Will give them an answer key.

Listening for detail. (10-10 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, listening tasks

Instructions: Listen to the text again. Answer the question t/f. Correct wrong answer. ICQ: Do you need to write long answers? What are you going to do with the wrong answers? Task: Answer 9 true/false questions. Pair Check: Feedback: Whole group

Speaking/Productive Task (10-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to expand on the text and practice fluency.

Instructions: Read the text. Re-read the text to your group. Answer the questions. ICQ: Will you be writing your answers? Task: Students will work in groups of 3. Pair Check: Check in pairs. Feedback: Whole group. (Will call on students).
