Description

In this lesson I have new group and new students, I am going to teach them listening and vocabulary parts. I am going to improve their receptive skills in listening.

Main Aims

  • To provide specific information and detailed listening practice using a text about crime story. in the context of investigation story.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide review and practice of words in an crime story. in the context of of investigation story.

Procedure

lead-in (10-12 minutes) • take the students to the topic in an easy way.

In this stage I am going to make rapport with the students, I will ask about their names, especially this is the first lesson with them. and after that I am going to elicit the idea of crime by telling them a story happened with me. Then I m going to show them some pictures to help me elicit the idea of the lesson, and make them acquainted with the vocabulary of the lesson. So first of all, they will look at the picture and guess the name.

Improving listening skills (15-20 minutes) • in this stage I am going to make them improve thier receptive skills (listening).

In this stage they will look at a picture for 30 seconds, and after that they are going to close their books and listen to an audio and take notes about the picture, and compare their answers with their partners, then I am going to review the picture again and ask them about the picture. then they are going to listen again to an audio, to one of the witnesses, telling her friend what she saw. and again we are going to see the picture and play the audio again to figure out the mistakes which she says about the crime. then they will work in pairs to write the mistakes down, and discuss them with a partner and then with GW.

semi-controlled exercise (15-20 minutes) • to improve thier understanding of the listening part

I will give them handout about sentences split apart, they should match with the second part of the sentence. and after that they are going to work in pairs and discuss their answers and after I am going to make them go and check in other groups and replace the table to take look and come back to their tables and give them 30 seconds so they can change their answers. after that i am going to give them another handout to work as a whole class to find someone who...
