Description

This lesson starts with a 2 pictures about different parts of body and face in the context of '' Your memory for face''. The TL for this lesson comes from the vocabulary and discussion part and also the students will have a productive skill practice(fluency speaking practice) . For the subsidiary aim of the lesson, the students will have a discussion about the memory.

Main Aims

  • To provide gist and specific information listening practice using a recording about memory in the context of Your memory for face

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide clarification and review of parts of face in the context of Remembering a face
  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of Remembering a face

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (7-7 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Introduce myself. Get to know new Ss. Project a picture of body and ask Ss to work in pair and tell each other about the name of different parts of it. (Activating schemata) Put Ss in 2 groups and they write the names of different parts of the body on the w/b. Project the photo of a face on the w/b and ask Ss to stick the word to the correct part of the face. ex 1 vocabulary Take some FB.(Ask Ss to read by showing the part of the face with their fingers) Give out the crossword ex1. Ss check in small groups. Take some FB. ( ask Ss to show the part of the face and say it aloud)

Test #1 (3-3 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language

Give Ss Memory multiple-choice questions and ask them to answer the questions individually. Ss check the answers with Ss who know the answers.( Ss in a row check with each other.) Ask Ss if they have any words that they do not know the meaning. Write down words that Ss have problems.

Teach (4-4 minutes) • To clarify areas of the language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

Teach the words that Ss have problems. This part should be student-centered by eliciting the meaning from the Ss. Ask CCQs: Is top of Mount Everest cold or warm? (cold) If I never forget numbers , do I have a good memory for numbers?(Yes) Can you show me bottoms of your shoes? Was Kemal Sunal a famous actor? Yes Am I a famous person? No Do I have the same color in my hand?(By showing 2 different colors) No Do we have a combination of ladies and gentlemen in this class? Yes Do we wear sunglasses when the weather is sunny? Yes

Test #2 (3-3 minutes) • Check students' use of the language again and compare with the first test

Give out test 2. Ss peer-check. Take some FB.(Ask Ss to stand up and check the answers with other groups)

Pre-Listening (8-8 minutes) • To prepare students for the listening and make it accessible

Project pictures of Ss on the w/b and ask them to memorize the place of each photo. Turn off the projector. Ask Ss to stick the photos on the w/b. Give questions in speaking ex1 to Ss to mingle with other Ss. Ss try to do the activity "find out who...." Ss in 2 groups tell each other personal information . Ss discuss in small groups how they remember a face. Take some FB.( ask Ss to tell other groups some facts about their friends) Give Ss Mona lisa and Elvis Presley's information and ask them to mingle to find out the missing information from their friends. Take some FB.(ask a group to tell other Ss the fact about them) Show some pictures about the recording and ask Ss in small groups to guess what they are going to listen. Take some FB.( each group gives their ideas to other groups)

While-Listening #1 (10-11 minutes) • To provide students with gist and specific information listening tasks

Give HO ex1/2 listening. Ss read the question. Ss listen to the recording. Ss peer-check. FB(Ask Ss to give the answer to other groups and they write on the w/b) Give HO ex3 listening. Ss read the questions. Ss guess the answers in small groups. Ss listen to the recording. Ss peer-check. Take some FB.(Ss tell the answers to other groups and they write the answers on the w/b)

Post-Listening (5-5 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the listening and expand on what they've learned

Ask Ss to discuss these questions. (Questions will be written on the w/b) Ask your friend these questions: 1.Are some people born with better memories than others are? 2.Can memory be improved? 3.Do you have a good memory or a bad memory? Why? 4.Do you like to have a perfect memory? Why or why not? How can it change your life? 5.What do you usually forget? Why? Take some FB. (in each group 1 S will tell the facts about his/her classmates and other Ss listen to the group to find out interesting facts about them)

Feedback and Error Correction (4-4 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

I will write the errors and some correct statements form the Ss on the w/b. Ss work in pairs to identify the errors and the correct forms. Take some FB.
