Main Aims

  • To provide gist and scan reading practice using a text about Body Moving in the context of Health as S.s will read the article for skimming and scanning to get the main idea and to match each paragraph for its heading/word or phrase

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide clarification and practice of Body Moving in the context of Health as S.s will learn and Practice new vocabulary given in the article
  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a Conversation through using the new Vocabulary given in the article and making conversation in Warming-up stage to activate their schemata with any relevant knowledge related to the topic .

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

S.s will be asked to stand up and act like the teacher as he will ask them stretch their arms above their heads, move their right shoulder, move their left shoulder, and Move their necks right and left. The teacher will ask S.s " Do you feel good now ? , Is it a good idea to move about when you are working ? "as it is a good idea to involve them all and also to energize S.s . S.s will discuss in pairs about how it is good to move from time to time while they are working or studying . It also helps S.s to activate their schemata if there is any relevant knowledge related to the topic .

Pre-Reading/Listening (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

Teacher will ask S.s Randomly in Questions from Ex.1, Then he will put S.s in pairs to ask and answer these questions . As F.B teacher will get S.s to tell the class about their partners . Using methods like this helps S.s to engage with context and be involved in the class , also it minimizes T.T.T "teacher talking time " and make S.T.T longer. That reflects on S.s with good attitude toward the lesson that they can develop and learn more.

While-Reading/Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

First, in Ex.2 S.s will Predict in groups what the article is about . to add more simplicity for Elementary S.s . The teacher will write some key-vocabulary on the board and ask S.s which ones they expect to find in the article . No F.B will be done at this moment as S.s will discover it in the article while they are skimming and scanning after that . In Ex.3, S.s will skim the article to check their predictions .

While-Reading/Listening #2 (14-16 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

In Ex.4, S.s will scan the article to put the phrases in the correct place, after that they will compare their answers in groups . The teacher will take F.B with the whole class .

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

In Ex.5 S.s will work in pairs to or small groups to discuss the advice given to them in Ex.4 using the new vocabulary given to them on the board and in the article
