Description

In this lesson I am going to teach vocabulary and speaking, so I will use PowerPoint to explain the new words by using pictures and flashcards and after that matching these kind of food with taste, as for speaking I am going to make different interaction patterns, (Solo , Pw , Gw , mingle , WC), so students will practice different patterns and will work with different partner.

Main Aims

  • To provide practice and clarification of kinds of food using mix of Turkish and foreign dishes. in the context of Fussy eaters

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide accuracy speaking practice in a Conversation about food and taste. in the context of Fussy eaters

Procedure

Warmer (2-3 minutes) • to have some kind of refresh for students and change their partners.

I am going to make some changes with the partners so I have prepared something like, I write down on paper, ( breakfast , lunch and dinner ) and I will give them to students and after that I will ask students who have breakfast to go to one corner and lunch to the other corner and dinner to stand in the middle. after that I will ask them, how many meals do we have a day? they will say three (breakfast , lunch and dinner) so I will ask one breakfast and one lunch and one dinner to sit down at the same table, and continue like this way till I have on every table the same order.

lead-in (3-4 minutes) • To set the topic and prepare the students for the lesson.

I will ask the students to write down what they prefer to eat according to their previous paper when I divided them, so the student who have breakfast he/she should say what does he/she prefer on breakfast (just one thing not more). and after that I ask the students: do you eat the same food all the time? and looking for someone who does this to tell their friends that he/she is fussy eater.

Improving vocabulary skill (12-15 minutes) • by providing some kind of foreign and Turkish food.

I am going to show them through projector, some kind of foreign and Turkish food and I will let them guess the meaning with partner, and if they don't guess the definition of the food then I will click and show them the definition next the picture. and after that I will repeat this step in different way, like I will put all the pictures together and they will guess the names in whole class work, and after I finish I will talk about the taste and I write different words to describe the food, here they will work with partner and guess the taste of each food. and after that I a going to give them HO, it is like (Find some one who....) so they well work as a whole class work and ask each other till the complete the questions.

Speaking and practice (20-25 minutes) • To listen and speak with partner about pictures on the WB

I will give them a short conversation in restaurant and after they listen, they should chose the appropriate picture as PW, so we still have two pictures they should work with group and discuss where these pictures take place and what they understand from them. after that I am going to give them HO, where with 8 questions to know if they are a fussy eaters, they should ask each other as PW, after they finish I will ask some question about the answers, and at last I am going to divide the class into two groups, they will play a role play in a restaurant, one of the students will be the waiter and the others will tell him what they want to eat.
