Description

In this lesson, the students will look at the tenses which are used to talk about the future - will+infinitive, present progressive, be going to + infinitive. They will also listen to the conversation where these tenses are used and speak to their partner while using the target language.

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification, review and practice of future forms in the context of things going wrong.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To give practice in listening for specific information and detail.
  • To give practice in speaking for fluency in telephoning calls.

Procedure

Reminder (9-10 minutes) • Get the Ss talk about the topic which they started at the first lesson in order to get get to the grammar used in that context.

Ask them if they remember what was the first listening about. Make them work in groups and discuss the context with their partner. Ask the group to introduce their ideas.

Grammar introduction (7-9 minutes) • Remind them which tenses can be used to talk about the future

Ask them if the people in the listening were talking about past, present or future. Ask which tenses can be used to talk about the future. Give them cards to match the description, form and example of using future tenses. Check it on the WB(selected students come and change the places of words)

Listening practice (8-10 minutes) • Practice the grammar, check the understanding through listening.

The students work individually on the ex.2a. After completing it, they check the answers with their partners. Also, they explain their choice and we discuss it together. Play the audio for them to check the answer Play the recording 1.47, make them write what they hear and compare the unswers in small groups. Give them the answers. Practise saying pairs of specific words. Work more on pronunciation. I say and they repeat.

A role play (15-16 minutes) • Practise the grammar while speaking in the context of things going wrong

Demonstrate the activity. Make small groups of 3 people. Give each one a role. Tell them to act out their situation. Let them work for a bit and then they can present it to the whole class. Error Correction
