Description

In this lesson, students will learn and practice the reported speech questions, requests and orders. The lesson will start with a sentence from the previous lesson activity about Eva's audition. Then the teacher will help the students to discover the meaning and form of the grammar structure. AT the end students will practice reported speech questions in a freer speaking activity.

Procedure

Lead-in/warmer (5-7 minutes) • To set the context and engage the students

T will show a question from Eva's interview and another sentence about what Eva is telling her boyfriend: Are you working at the moment? First he asked me if I was working at the moment. T elicit grammar structure from the students: Does the interviewer ask Eva's boyfriend? (No). Does he speak to Eva's boyfriend directly? (No) Does Eva tell everything about the audition to her boyfriend? (yes) Does Eva report about the audition? (yes)

Meaning (5-7 minutes) • To help students discover the meaning of reported speech questions, requests and orders

T puts the students in groups of four. T will give a handout of 4 sentences in direct speech to match it with another 4 reported speech sentences. Ss do the activity. Ss check with peers. T will draw a table on the WB: Questions / requests / orders. T will ask Ss to come to the board to write their answers. WCFB

Form (7-9 minutes) • To clarify the form of the grammatical structures

T will give the students a gap fill handout to complete the form of the reported speech structure. Ss will fill in the gap individually When they finish, T will ask students to check their answers in pairs. After that, T will elicit the form from Ss. Whfb

Control Practice (7-9 minutes) • to provide the students an opportunity to practice the traget language.

T will give a handout asking Ss to look at the sentences and to complete the reported speech. Ss will work individually. When they finish, Ss will check their answers. T will ask students to come to the board to write their answers WCFB

semi control practice (5-7 minutes) • To give the students an opportunity to practice the target language.

T will put the students in pais (A,B). Ss face each other, T will give each students two cards. On each card there are two sentences. Ss will read the sentences and student B will change the sentence into reported speech, The second sentence is the correct answer. When they finish, T will ask Ss to correct their partners.

Freer Practice (5-6 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

T will show on the projector 6 uncompleted questions. T will ask Ss to complete the questions. When they done, T will ask the students to stand up and choose a student in the class and ask him/her these questions and to take notes. After 4 minutes, T will ask students to go back to their original seats. T will set them in pairs to discuss about their conversation with their first partner.
