Procedure

Lead-in (3-4 minutes) • To set the context and engage Sts with the context

T asks Ss to close their eyes and think about their houses of flats and what things they can see there. T turns off the light to provide quiet atmosphere for the Ss to think. After one minute, T turns the light on and divides them into two teams. T asks them to write as many words as they can about things they can find in a house or a flat on the WB in one minute.

Exposure (10-12 minutes) • To present the TL in a context

T gives Ss a HO which contains a text, true or false statments and questions and asks them to fold the paper and then read the text. T asks them to unfold the paper and answer the questions. T conducts a WC feedback. After that, T gives Ss a guided discovery HO and asks them to work in pairs and answer the questions. T conducts nominative feedback. T drills the sentences chorally and individually.

Controlled practice (10-12 minutes) • To provide Ss with controlled practice of the TL

T refers back to the text and asks the Ss to underline countable nouns and circle the uncountable nouns in the text. T conducts WC feedback. After that, T gives Ss another HO which has a gap-fill activity, T asks Ss to fill in the gaps in the following questions with How much ...? or How many ...? T asks Ss to check in pairs and then nominates Ss for feedback.

Semi-controlled practice (5-7 minutes) • To provide Ss with semi-controlled practice of the TL

T gives Ss a group of words and asks them to write questions using How much ...? and How many ...? to ask about these things. Ss work individually and then T asks them to check in pairs. T provides feedback on the WB using the projector.

Freer practice (7-10 minutes) • To provide freer practice of the TL in a speaking for accuracy activity

T asks the Ss to choose 5 people in the classroom without saying their names and then make questions using How much ...? and How many ...? to ask those people the questions. T asks Ss to stand up and mingle to ask the questions to those people. While speaking, T monitors to take notes of any mistakes in the use of language.
