Description

In this lesson'students learn about different types of films through reading.The lesson saris with pre-teaching some words by using pictures,demonstrations about them through eliciting.It is followed by a pre-reading activity in which students are reading this text for a gist and they find a title.The second is a controlled activity that will be implemented by running dictation activity.This is followed by a freer activity which students will make up their own scenarios for the last part of TITANIC.I want them to change its sad ending.After they finish writing,we will stick them on the wall and they decide which one is the first.

Main Aims

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To introduce the text through the kinds of films

-T starts the lesson by showing pictures and making up a context about the types of films. -Thus, teacher gets the students attention to topic.

(Getting Ready for Reading)Pre-Teaching Vocabulary (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

-The teacher starts by releasing the topic of the day.The topic is 'Films' to explain descriptive adjectives for movies. -She has also pictures about the kinds of films and their adjectives to describe them.These pictures represent the vocabulary to be taught by eliciting.It will be helpful to get their attention and give an idea on the tasks we will be covering during the lesson.

Pre-Reading (Reading for Gist) (5-8 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist

Teacher lets students read the whole text once and she gives the limited time for reading.Then,students try to find a title for the text. Then,they compare their titles with their partners.

(While-Reading) Reading for Specific Information (Running Dictation) (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed information

-Teacher wants students to work in pairs and gives them handouts. -These handouts include some sentences which have blanks about the missing information taken from the original text. -Teacher wants them to decide one person is a runner and another is a writer in each group. These runners come to the middle of the class and they find some sentences on the wall.But these sentences have missing information. After they read these sentences on the wall,they tell these sentences to the partners and their partners are trying to find the missing information in the sentences.

Post-Reading (Semi-Controlled) (3-5 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

Teacher gives some cutous including some summaries of the films.After they catch the endings of the stories,they are deciding whether they have happy endings or sad endings.They work in pairs.

Freer Activity (5-10 minutes) • To give students a chance to discuss in a big group about telling happy endings or sad endings of the films

Teacher shows a picture about Titanic.This picture includes one of the last scenes about the film.Teacher wants students to change the end of Titanic and write them on their colourful papers.After they finish writing,teacher sticks them on the wall.Groups are walking around and having a look to these films.They decide which one is the favourite!
