Description

In this lesson, students will practice speaking for fluency in the context of news and celebrities. Students will work on some adjectives related to celebrities life and news. After doing a controlled practice on the vocabulary, students will do a role-play where they get to become paparazzi and celebrities.

Procedure

Vocabulary (10-12 minutes) • to test Ss' understanding of some adjectives related to the context

- Ss are put into five groups of three. Each group is given a set of cards including a gap-fill. - T asks Ss to see if they can guess the correct adjectives that match the cards. - T asks Ss to move around and take a look at other groups work to see if they have got the right match. - T gives Ss the cards with the right adjectives for them to match. (FB) - T teaches the words that Ss have difficulties with (MFP).

Vocabulary Practice (10-12 minutes) • to practice the adjectives in a CP game

- Ss are given a sticker including an adjective. They have to stick it to their forehead. - T has Ss walk around the classroom and find someone. They have to look at the adjective on their forehead and try to guide them to the word without giving the adjective away. - T gives the instruction by demonstration.

Speaking (15-20 minutes) • to practice speaking for fluency in a semi-controlled task

- T divides the class into two parts of celebrities and paparazzi. - Ss in the group of celebrities have to get together and come up with the ways to evade the paparazzi's questions. Ss in the group of paparazzi have to get together to come up with questions about the celebrities private lives. - Each group is given 5 minutes to prepare. - Each paparazzi interviews one celebrity and takes note of their answers. - At the end, T asks Ss if they have something interesting they would like to share with the class.

(If-time activity) (8-10 minutes) • to practice speaking for fluency in a freer activity

- T projects a topic for discussion on the board: Would you like to be famous? Why? Why not? - Ss discuss the topic in groups of three. - At the end, T asks for Ss opinions and the ideas they discussed.
