Description

In this lesson Students are going to listen to an interview between the interviewer and jack a paparazzo with fifteen years' experience. Ss will be shown some pictures for a famous Turkish actress and will be asked some questions in order to elicit the word (paparazoo/paparazzi and celebrity/celebrities ) and to set the context of the whole lesson as well. Students will listen for gist to answer one specific question(what does jack think of his job?Students will be given a chance to predict the answer and will then listen and answer the question. Students will be given a chance to read the sentences in the while listening task 2 and then they will listen and underline the correct answer. Students will be given some sentences take from the recording and asked to match them with their meaning (guessing meaning from the context) Students will after this be encouraged to use the sentence to give their own views about the points mentioned in task 2. (post listening stage )

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Ss will be asked to form a circle and look at the pictures( a famous Turkish actress ( Meryem Uzerli ) T tries to elicit some essential vocabulary by asking some question. Who is she ? I assume that all of Ss know Meryem uzerli ) (famous , cel......) Who do you think took this pictures? (photographer or a p..........) Did she asked him/her to take the pictures ? (No , paparazzi are photographer who follow celebrities and take pictures of them everywhere ) Is she ready for the pictures ? (No) Did meryem pay him/her money ? (no) who do you think is more professional a paparazzi or a photographer ?(photographer) T drills the word , write them with the phonetic transcription and elicit the part of speech. Pre-Listening (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

T shows Ss the Ho T ask Ss to read and discuses the question in pairs. T gives Ss two to three minutes . T gives Ss the Ho Ss work T monitors Quick open class discussion.(if necessary)

While-Reading/Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information listening tasks

T tells Ss that they are going to Listen to an interview with Jack, a paparazo. T asks Ss what do you think about his job ? Do you think he likes his job? Do you think that he finds it interesting or boring ? T asks Ss who is jack? Ss ( A paparazzo) To make sure that all Ss know who jack is before the listening. T asks Ss to listen and answer one question? what does Jack think of his job? T tells SS that they are going to listen once to answer this question. T tells Ss check whether your guesses were true. T plays the recording T asks Ss to check their answer together. T does open class feedback (if necessary )

While-Listening #2 (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed,listening tasks

T asks Ss to look at the sentences under the pictures. T asks Ss to read the sentence T tries to elicit/gives Ss a chance to get the meaning of the words from the context (contextual guessing) unflattering (adj) not attractive or not nice ordinary (adj) usual they refuse to cooperate ( they don't want to help) T tells Ss that they are going to listen and underline okay or okay about jack's views(opinions) T asks ICQs Are you going to answer about your opinion or jack's opinion? (jack) T plays the recording Ss answer the questions T asks Ss to check answers together T monitors feedback A. OK B. OK C. OK D.not OK E. OK F.not OK G.not OK

Post-Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

T shows Ss the sentences that she on one side of the class and ask them to match them with their meaning from the other said of the class and then put each sentences and it's meaning on the board. T gives Ss instructions (tries to elicit) Stand up Look at the sentences. match them with their meaning. you have one minute (T says one minute but actually gives two minutes in order to encourage the Ss to do the task) put each sentences and it's meaning on the board. ICQs where do you put the sentences and their meaning ? (on the board) Ss work T sits back and monitors from distance. Ss finish T asks Ss to stand in a circle and check the answers and drills the sentences with Ss.

If time allows • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

T puts Ss in groups of four. T asks Ss to discuses jack's view in task 2 Do you disagree or disagree with him ? and why ? T encourages Ss to use the sentences (functional language )from the board in their discussion. Ss work T monitors from distance .
