Description

In this lesson, SS will be learning new vocabulary and practice them with variety activities that willl help them to reinforce the context. SS will be learning about the Multi Word verbs and how to use them in the sentences. They will also be learning the form of it.

Materials

Abc Colorful hand outs ex. 9a ( Speak out intermediate pg.70 & teacher made resources)
Abc Flascards ( Teacher made resources)

Main Aims

  • To provide practices about Multi word verbs in a daily language to make sure SS get the context. Also to teach how to use it with prepositions and objects.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide speaking activities which SS will get chance to talk/remember about the MWV that they learnt in the class. Working in pairs and groups will help them to reinforce their vocabulary.

Procedure

Stage 1( Lead in) (3-5 minutes) • Introducing the category pictures to SS with flascards

- Briefly introduce yourself and ask how was their day? - T tells them that she is really excited as it's their first class together and T mentiones about the feeling and remind SS what they've learnt from the previous class. - T shows some flascards from the ex.9a ( the category pictures) to elicit from the SS and stick them on the W/B.

Stage 2 ( Vocabulary focus) (15-15 minutes) • To provide SS new vocabulary with practices

- T gives SS colorful gap-fill hand outs and asks them to read individually the paragraphs and replace them in the right category in ex 9a. - After SS finish the feedback will be elicited from them and the A/K will be under the related category on the W/B. - The colorful hand outs will indicate SS' groups which they will work on for the next activity. - Each group will be given some slips of paper; one will include the Multi word verb and the other one will include the meanings. - T will ask SS to match right slips with the right meanings. - When they finish T will ask SS to stand up and check out the other groups work. - After checking and comparing the answers T will give the A/K. - T will drill each MWV once and emphasis the stresses of the given vocabulary.

Stage 3 ( Focus on the form of Multi Word Verbs) (5-9 minutes) • To provide SS an activity to teach the from and reinforce the language with practice

- T asks students the do ex. 10 a&b individually. - SS will check in pairs. - T will elicit the answers from SS. - After eliciting , T will show the form of some Multi Word Verbs which ones need an object, which ones don't and some can be used with a preposition.

Stage 4( Freer Practice) (5-9 minutes) • To provide SS speaking activity with using the new vocabulary that they learnt during the class.

- SS will be working in pairs but they are going to change partner everytime I ring the bell.So they will get the interact with everyone in the class. - T will give an example of her own from the ex.9b pg 70e.x ' I dressed up for school today' and asks SS to write 5 sentences (examples) for them individually.

Stage 5 (Controlled Practice) (5-7 minutes) • To provide SS some more practices about the MWV.

- SS will be working in pairs. - T asks SS to do ex 1a pg 153, matching the right multi word verb with the right definition. - T will drill the verbs with W/C and emphasis the stresses. - The A/K will be hanging on the walls , so SS will be walking around the class to check their answers. - For the extra time; - SS will be divided in two groups and lining in front of the W/B. - SS will be given some Multi Word Verbs discursively on the W/B and T will demo first and then start reading the meanings each one at a time, asks SS to run up to the board and erase the right MWV. The SS who comes first, gets the point.
