Description

In this lesson, Ss will learn how to talk about their favourite holiday types and destinations by learning the right vocabulary related to the topic.

Abc Phrase cards

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification by reading about the holiday and travel.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To practice speaking by talking about holiday spots and travel issues and to practice writing by using the new lexis.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-7 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

1.Ss will be presented the topic by writing the question "What kind of holiday person are you?" on the w/b. 2. Under this question, various holiday pictures (beach, camping, skiing, luxury hotel) will be sticked. 3.Ss will talk about their favourite holiday picture in pairs. 4.As a feedback, Ss will divide into groups according to the photo they choose and tell their opinions out loud to the class.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

1.Ss will asked the guideliness methodology questions as "Do you take regular holidays?", "Do you usually holiday in your own country or abroad?" and "What would you find i your ideal hotel?" and etc. 2.Then, Ss will be given the travel questionnaire. 3. They can work in pairs. 4.As a feedback, the Ss will compare their answers with their pairs by the results I will give them.

Clarification (5-7 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

1. I will write the gap-fill sentences on the board. 2. The Ss will be asked to fill these gaps with the right phrase card on the w/b. 3.As a feedback, there will be drilling.

Semi-Controlled Practice (3-5 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

1. Ss will make these phrases in the right logical order. 2. They will work in pairs. 3. As a feedback, they will write the order number next to the phrase on the w/b.

Controlled Practice (6-8 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

1. Ss will read the questionnaire for details. 2. They will be given 8 definitons and will be asked to match these definitions with the correct words/phrases from the questionnaire. 3. They will work in pairs and as a feednack they will write the answers on the w/b. 4.There will also be drilling.

Free Practice (6-8 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

1. Ss will be asked to write their dream holiday if they had a $100.000 budget. 2. They will only write 3 to 5 sentences. 3. As a feedback, they will read their sentences out loud to the class.
