Description

In this lesson SS will be engaged in what they Love and what they Hate in life, starting from some actors and actresses real life. SS expected to build up some vocabulary and grammar about the third singular persons. SS will develope their receptive skills by learning vocabulary and grammar to talk about the third person (s/he) pronouns.

Abc SB p.36-37, WB p.23

Main Aims

  • To provide grammar of third singularities (s/he) using Simple Tense. Giving the learners a oppotuninity to talk about the third persons' Likes and Dislikes.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide students with the exercises of reading and speaking.

Procedure

Stage 1 (Lead-in) (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Start asking the students where is London, Paris, Istanbul and Antalya. Tell them which city you love and which you don't and even you hate.

Stage 2 (Pre-Reading/Listening) (10-15 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

Ask SS the picture in the p.36 about who she (Madona) might be and what she is doing at the time. ask them where she might come from and where she is living now. Dispatch the page and let ss read through, gist and scan it. The teacher will read the whole paragraph and then let them to read it. Elicit some questions. After giving them sufficient time, ask SS some questions in ex 3a. In this ex.3a, the teacher will check the words 'ordinary' 'rugby' 'enjoys' 'art' 'theatre' and 'misses', and let the students repeat and comprehend the meanings. After the students completed ex 3a, let them to compare the answers with the partners.

Stage 3 (Reading/Listening) (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

Let the student read the paragraph about Catherina Zeta Jones. The learners will do Gist reading of the Grammar on p.37 (short answers such as "Yes, s/he does" or No, "s/he doesn't"). They will do the Practice 1a in pairs. and then, they will study in pairs doing 1b.

Stage 4 (Post-Reading/Listening) (10-15 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

Let the students do some free work and exercises on what they've learnt in this lesson. They will use Simple Tense for the third persons using short answers such as 'yes, s/he does' and 'no, s/he doesn't'.
