Description

In this lesson, ss will express opinions. The lesson starts with a quick review from the previous lesson which is about method of communication, then ss use the adjectives to complete opinions from previous conversation, then a controlled practice, followed by preparation for speaking and finally ss will have a freer practice where they will discuss all the ideas.

Materials

Main Aims

  • Vocabulary: To review/clarify and to give practice of the adjectives

Subsidiary Aims

  • Speaking: To provide ss practice in speaking for fluency and accuracy in the context of expressing opinions

Procedure

Lead-in (3 minutes) • To review previous lesson and to give short practice to the ss

T ask ss what are the method of communication T ask ss how they keep in touch with their family and friends

Language focus (8 minutes) • To review/claify the adjective and to give ss practice

T write the adjective on the w/b and check meaning with the ss, Then deal with the form/structure on the w/b with the ss, then tell ss that we often use the structure to talk about how we feel about something. T ask ss to use the structure to talk about how they feel about something See HO EX.1

Controlled practice (10 minutes) • For ss to work individually and to check ss understandıng

T give one example on the w/b and focus ss attention on the example then give out the HO to the ss and ask them to put the words in question 2-5 in order to make sentences after that check as class. Ss talk together in pair/group if they agree or disagree with the sentences before the open class FB. See HO EX.2

Pre-Speaking (8 minutes) • To prepare the ss for the freer practice and to pre-teach the TL for this activity

T write on the w/b TL and check ss understanding before drilling T ask a ss which one thing from the list is the biggest waste of time for him/her then ask ss to tick from the list the things they think are a waste of time and add any idea of their own to the list then check with the class See HO ex.3

Speaking (9 minutes) • To give ss freer practice in expressing opinions

Ss in pair/group discuss all their ideas and try to agree on three things that are a waste of time T check that all pair/group agreed on three things and find out if different pair/group chose the same or different ideas. T give FB on the language ss used during their discussion See HO EX.4

Feedback (7 minutes) • To make sure ss understand the whole content of the lesson

T praise ss for use of good language, give FB on what they spoke about and correct errors made by them be it in meaning, form, pronunciation or accuracy by writing out the errors on w/b and elicit the corrections.
