Description

In this lesson the students listens to three people taking about what they did (last Saturday ) Firstly; they listen for gist. During the first listening they have to answer one question what did they all do last Saturday . There are some words that students need to learn before listening. The teacher elicits the vocabulary by the help of visuals If students can’t answer, the teacher explains. Before listening for specific information the teacher sets the task. Students are given a handout with 6 sentences that students need to decide whether they are correct or incorrect . The students will listen for the third time to correct the false sentences .Finally students will talk about what they did last Saturday in groups and then they will tell other groups about their group .

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a Conversation in the context of what the Ss do at the weekend

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T greats the students and ask them about their weekend ? T asks Ss about the date ? T asks Ss when was LAST Saturday ? Ss (18th) Did you do anything interesting/nice last Saturday ? T tells Ss about what she did last Saturday ? T says I am really happy because I went shopping for clothes last Saturday (I got this skirt) T shows Ss the skirt she is wearing. T takes off her jacket and says (the weather changes very quickly ) it was very cold but now it is hot ) T makes sure that Ss understand the word weather by asking CCQs Is the weather always cold in Istanbul ? T shows Ss a picture of different weather (if necessary) T drills the word with the Ss. T shows Ss CDs /siːˈdiːz/ and tries to elicit the word. T drills the word with the ss and then writes it on the board.

Pre_Listening (6-10 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

T shows the HO that contains three pictures two girls and a boy. What do you think they did last Saturday ? T gives Ss the HO ans asks them to talk together and think what they did last Saturday? T tries to elicit some answer (writes some good suggestions on the board. T tells SS that they are going to listen one time and answer one question? what did they ALL do last Saturday ? T points out that the answer is one thing that they ALL did . T asks CCQs Are you going to write one or two things ? Ss (one) Is it something that only connie did ? or connie ,Andre and Olga ? T (Connie,Andre and olga ? T makes sure that Ss are ready to listen T plays the recording and pauses after each person to give Ss chance to take some notes. T asks s to check answers together.

While-Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

T gives Ss HO (true an false sentences ) T tells Ss that they are going to listen to the same recording again . T tells Ss to write T (true) next to true sentences and F next to the false ones. T does the first one with the class as an example. T plays the recording and purses if necessary. T puts Ss with different partner. T asks Ss to check their answers together.

While_Listening #2 (2-5 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging listening tasks

T tells Ss that they are going to listen for and correct the false sentences . T plays the recording . T provides Ss with an answer key to check their answers.

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

T puts Ss in groups. T gives Ss HO that contains 6 questions to help them form their ideas . T asks Ss to ask and answer the questons to find out what their frinds do at the weekend T tells Ss to take notes about their friends in their groups because they going to tell the other groups about their group .

If time allows (2-4 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language
