Description

In this lesson, Ss will practice using simple present questions & answers. They will create a survey about people's routine in the week or at the weekend.

Materials

Main Aims

  • To provide practice of language used for asking and answering questions using simple present tense in the context of daily life routine.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide accuracy and fluency speaking practice in a asking and answering questions in the context of weekly/weekend routine.
  • To provide review and practice of routines in the weekend or at weekend in the context of simple present.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-7 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Review Wh- questions (where, what time, when) using (I, you, we, they). Teach phrases in the week and at the weekend Ss add these phrases to wh- Q's

Task (8-10 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

Ss write 8 questions about people's routines in the week or at the weekend. They use phrases from 1a pp 22. e.g. What time do you go to bed in the week? When do you get up at the weekend? Check Qs for accuracy and help with any problems

Planning & Reporting (10-15 minutes) • To provide an opportunity for Ss to plan their surveys and report.

Remind Ss of the phrase Me too, teach What about you? In the previous stage, Ss created a survey of 8 Qs They move around the room and ask other Ss their Qs (if large class do GW) Find Ss do the same thing at the same time, they write Ss name next to Q Teach both, e.g. Ali and I both play tennis at 7 p.m. Ss take turns to tell class two things they have found out

Conrolled Practice (9-11 minutes) • To allow students to practice language and concept check further and prepare Ss for free practice

Put Ss into pairs, give A to one s and B to his/her partner Ask Ss where the 3 couples are from & where they work Ss ask Qs to complete the worksheet Ss compare answers with partners

Language Practice (5-7 minutes) • To provide students with practice of the task language

Put Ss into groups Each group will have 3 Qs and 3 As scrambled Ss unscramble Q&As on the board 1st team finishes the game correctly wins Ss check other teams' answers
