Description

Vocabulary refers to words or multiword units like idioms and phrasal verbs that have a common meaning. In this lesson, the learners firstly are going to focus on talking about their own lives, following, some specific vocabulary for interviews, a variety of word such as formal and informal. Most of the lesson is going to include vocabulary activities. Moreover, that parts also will be supported with reading and vocabulary skills.

Main Aims

  • To teach NEW Vocabulary by focusing on ECDW processes. To develop students' ability to learn the meanings of unknown words/ phrases when they encounter

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide learners guess unknown words from context. To enable learners see clearly the places of certain vocabularies while they are reading.

Procedure

Stage-1 (Types of Interview) (3-8 minutes) • To focus on almost all types of interview around us

- I will hang a large size picture which is of a job interview on the WB and ask them to guess what it is about. I will write all the answers I got from students on the board . It continues until they find the correct answer which is "Job Interview" - After they find it, I will group students as a pairs - I will give a HO which includes 3 questions (1. Which types of interview have you experienced? 2. Which will you experience in the future? 3. Do you think it is possible to show "the real you" in a short interview? Why/ not? ) to SS to discuss each other.

Stage-2 ( Interview Advice/s) (10-15 minutes) • To increase their vocabulary knowledge

- I will give a simple and clear instructions - We will focus on some phrases which are related to Interview process. Those are; dress smartly, speak clearly, answer briefly, shake hands firmly, send references, avoid eye contact, show enthusiasm. - When we focus on those phrases, I am going to follow ECDW steps. - As second activity, they will make pairs and each group will be expected to find at least 1 thing about what else you should/ should not do in an interview?.They will take a note them and each group will say at least one thing.

Stage-3 ( 5 tips to help you do well at Interviews) (3-6 minutes) • To analyse the tips that we focused on before more clearly in the text

- Next step, I will give them a text and 2 questions above the text ( 1. What type of things do people do to get an interview at Harvard University? 2. What should you do before and during an interview?) They will read it answer those questions individually. - Then, they will again work and discuss their answers as a pairs. - Lastly, I am going to hand out a AK to SS

Stage-4 ( Speaking Activity) (5-12 minutes) • To practice on established phrases that they learned

- I will make them as a pairs again - They will have some strips and that will include some questions (1. Are you good at shaking hands firmly? 2. Do you think you should do some research before the Interview? 3. What shouldn't you do during the Interview? 4. Should you dress smartly? Why/ Why not? 5. Where did you work? 6. What did you do? ) - After they get the answers from their partners, each student will write a paragraph about his/ her partner. - They will change their papers and check the answers.
