Description

In this lesson SS will learn the Simple Present tense, positive and negative forms of it. There will be a lot of activities to make the SS understand the subject including listening practices.

Procedure

Warm-up for Simple Present tense (15-15 minutes) • To prepare students for the Simple present tense; test how much they are familiar with the subject.

-To have a little brainstorming, T will show the SS some flashcards about the daily life and elicit from the students what's in the flash cards for 2 to 3 min. - From p26 ex 1(a)- draw a spider diagram on the board, without the word 'live'. Elicit 'live' from the SS.Drill a couple more sentences - I live in a flat, I live in a big city. - Give out p26 and p27 to each student. From p26, ask them to put the words from the box into the other 'spiders'. Check in pairs. Go through all together. - Drill a few more sentences from the spider.

Pre-teach vocabulary/Demostrate (5-5 minutes) • Check that SS knows impotrant vocabulary about the task. Incorporate vocabulary while practicing.

- Pre-teach vocabulary-'town'- ask students for another word for a small city. - Ask SS to put the words from p26 ex 3 onto the other spiders. Demonstrate them carefully.

Listening practice (10-10 minutes) • Get the students into the listening and try to get them used to it. Test their listening skill to If they are having troubles to catch it.

- On p27, listen to the CD 3.2 and get students to answer the first exercise with a tick or a cross. It's best to do the first one all together , the play the rest of the CD let them do their own. Pause the CD between each question. - For feedback, ask the one or two questions to different (remember there isn't a right or wrong answer so don't dwell on this.)

Practicing the positive and question forms of the language. (15-15 minutes) • Encourage participation and experimentation with the Simple Present tense through practice and act

-Elicit the positive and question form of the new language . Remember to try and get as much from them, don't tell them too much. Then drill a few sentences using /dj/. - Do exercise 2,3, and 4. After each exercise, ask students to check in pairs, then go through the answers all together. - For exercise 4, they might not manage eight sentences. Four or five will be enough. - For an extra time have the SS work on p 16 2a. Check in pairs.
