Description

In this lesson students practice various future tense forms through controlled, semi-controlled and freer practice.

Materials

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification and review of various future tense forms in the context of trip planning.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking and writing practice in a conversation in the context of dream trip.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (6-7 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T writes up some questions about trip planning on the WB. Sts are encouraged to guess the meaning of questions and the main topic for the session. T instructs students to get to know more about trip planning by discussing related questions.

Controlled Practice (10-13 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

T writes down " We heading down to your part of the world next week on holiday" and asks Sts if this sentence is correct and why? After that T will let Sts try and find the mistake in the sentence and how the correct form should be and which future tense is it? T gives clear instructions about the exercise adapted form workbook ex.2 in which Sts will be put into suitable groups (depending on how many students are attending the session). After that T sets the rules of the game and tells students the team that will come up with the correct answer first will get +2 point and each mistake -1 point. T gives Sts the AnswerSheet.

Semi-Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

T explains how the find someone who HO works out. T give Sts their Ho and asks them to mingle with WC to find out who likes what. Sts are put in pairs to discuss their finding. T conducts feed back.

Free Practice (13-15 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

T explains how the "Plan the Trip of Your Dreams" activity works. Sts are put into groups to plan their trips through writing the answers to the questions in the HO. Conduct FB.
