Procedure

Greetings (1-2 minutes) • to build up rapport

- T says "Hello" and "How are you?" - T asks Ss if they are hungry to set the context of restaurants.

Warmer/lead-in (3-4 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage Ss

- Ss will be put into 4 groups of three. - Ss will be given an A4 piece of paper containing 6 pictures of famous Turkish dishes. - Ss will be asked to tell each other the name of these dishes. - Ss will be asked to choose one as their favorite. - T asks Ss randomly about their favorite Turkish food. - T explains that these are 'Turkish' dishes to lead in pre-teaching adjectives related to names of countries.

Pre-reading (5-6 minutes) • to pre-teach adjectives related to names of countries

- Ss will be shown pictures of Italian, American, Indian, Chinese, and Japanese dishes one by one. - Adjectives related to names of countries will be taught through ECDW (Elicitation, Concept checking, Drilling, Writing on board).

Reading for gist (3-4 minutes) • looking for general information

- Ss will be given the HO from Cambridge English Unlimited A1 P. 33 Reading Ex.1 - Ss will be asked to decide on the restaurants names and put them in the correct place individually. They will be given 1 minute to do so. - Ss will be asked to check their answers in pairs. - Finally, answers will be elicited from Ss.

Reading for details (12-14 minutes) • looking for more detailed information

- Ss will be given a HO including 6 detailed questions about the text. They should do the task in groups of three (this time they will sit with different people). - ICQs: "Are you going to work alone or in groups?" "Are you going to find the answers from the text, or answer them by yourself?" - After having done the task, Ss will be put in different groups to check their answers. - T will ask Ss randomly to check the answers and clarify any unclear points about the text. - Finally, the T will write some mistakes from Ss GW activity on the board and will correct them by elicitation.

Controlled Practice (12-15 minutes) • to put the TL into practice

- T will give Ss the instruction of how to think about a restaurant or cafe they know and write a few sentences about it. - ICQs: "Are you going to write or talk?" "Are you going to write about a restaurant or your family?" - After having written thier sentences, Ss will be asked to hand in their writings. -Ss will be chosen randomly to come to the board (if there is still time) and pick a paper to read to the WC. Ss then try to guess whose writing it is.
