Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (12 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T writes 4 and 12 on the Wb, the Ss should guess what these numbers mean. Then he sticks the picture of each season on the Wb and elicits the season.Following that he asks them " what do you do in each season?" Then the T puts them in pairs to talk together. Then T will ask some of them to talk about the activities they do in each season for the other Ss. Next T gives them HO1, scrambled months, they have to sort them out together. Then two of them will come to Wb to stich them in order. When this is done,T asks two other students to come to Wb to stick the months underneath the related season. Then pronunciation drilling starts.

Pre-Listening (10 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

T will stick the National Day in Iran and tell them that in Iran people parade, the army also parades. Then T will stick a picture of a National Day in Turkey and the picture of April 23 and ask them some questions: What about in Turkey ? What do people do? Following that,he will stick the pictures of July 4th and the Independence Day in 1776 on the Wb.T asks: What happened on this day? They will talk about it in pairs.

While-Listening #1 (10 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

Ss will listen to two people talking about national days in America and Mexico. T will ask them: " What is this listening about?" " What are they talking about?" Then he will write the new words for them: celebrate: have fun for an occasion a party: people together eat and drink a parade:people walk in the town while bands play barbecue:outdoor meal with meat flag:piece of cloth with colors representing a country for each of the pictures T sticks the related picture

While-Reading/Listening #2 (7 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

T gives the Ss the HO2 and asks them to read it. This is listening for specific information . After they read it quickly they will put a check mark in Sandra's or Charlie's box. Then they can check their answers together and at the end with the answer key on the Wb. Now it's time for CCQ: 1-Is the Independence Day in America in September?(no) 2-Is the Independence Day in Mexico in July?(no) 3-Is the National Day in Turkey in April?(yes)

Post-Listening (5 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

T puts the students in groups of three and asks them to share their ideas about Independence Day in the USA and Mexico and write about them. If there is enough time, they will read their sentences and their writings will be judged by the peers to choose the best one.
