Description

In this lesson, Ss learn to ask questions about their daily life and answer them with short answers in Present Simple Tense. The lesson focuses on the question and anwers forms only for subjects as I, you, we and they. Ss also learn about some verbs, which are used in their daily routine, as infinitives. Plus, Ss are presented some prepositions to use in time phrases.

Main Aims

  • To introduce Ss Present Simple questions (yes/no questions + i/you/we/they), review the negative sentences and introduce prepositions used in time phrases.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To give Ss practice in listening for specific information about Present Simple yes/no questions and in speaking with each other for accuracy.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Warming up and reviving the students with the topic of the lesson. As a realia, showing a picture says "life" on it and making an introduction to the topic as the daily routine questions and answers.

Useful Language (8-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

(Task 7) Writing the question forms of present simple tense with the subjects as I/you/we/they. Then, writing the correct answer forms of them on w/b. Feedback: Ss read the questions and answers as a dialogue from the w/b with a random classmate.

Productive Task(s) (8-10 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

(Task 8) Giving the Ss handouts, after showing them during the instructions, to fill in the gaps with the words from the box with pairs. As a feedback, Ss listen to the dialogues with their partners in dialogue forms.

Vocabulary Practice (8-10 minutes) • To learn and practice new vocabulary.

(Task 9) Giving Ss the word circle handout. Drawing these 4 circles on w/b and asking Ss to write the words first on their sheets and then on w/b for everyone to see the right answers. As a feedback, giving tips of these prepositions after checking the answers on w/b and drilling the prepositions.

Group Work Practice (8-10 minutes) • To practice prepositions and yes/no questions with more exercise.

(Task 10) Making Ss groups of 3 people each. Giving them HOs from p:106, 114 and 120. a) they will choose the correct words in the phrases. -as group b) they will make questions with these words (from a). - as group c) then, they stand up and ask these questions to people from different groups and note their names. d) finally, they will tell the answers to the whole class.
