Description

In this lesson sts do roleplays, on a specific context and practise vocabulary in daily life. The roleplays content specific vocabulary in real social situation.

Materials

Main Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a Roleplay dialogues. in the context of Health problems.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide practice of new vocabulary perhaps such as "Call in Sick" etc.. In the context of Health problems.

Procedure

Lead In (10-12 minutes) • Warm up the sts for the lesson.

I will write the 3 situations on the board from exercise 3 “Calling in sick” “At the doctors” “At the chemist”. Then check if sts know what “calling in sick” means.Ask sts “How often do they go to the doctor or chemist / or call in sick?” What kind of things do they say? “Sts discuss these questions in pairs.Take some whole-class feedback.

Pre-Speaking activity. (5-10 minutes) • Warm up sts for the roleplay

Sts will work in pairs, they will match the sentences with the situations.After they finish i will check their answers and give the correct matching.Then pass on to the next stage of the class.

Preparation to speak (5-10 minutes) • Preperation for the role-plays and speaking

Organise the Ss into two groups – A & B.Ss in group A get the “A” role cards. Sts in group B get the “B” role cards.Sts in their groups, work together to decide what they would say in each situation.Monitor and help if needed.

Roleplays (10-15 minutes) • To encourage sts to act in roleplays using the vocabulary in the determined situations.

First form 3 groups for the three situations,let them choose the situation they will do the roleplay. After each group choose the situation they will work in pairs. Before they start the roleplay they can take notes. Next they will practise the dialogue. Finally i will ask if any Ss want to act their roleplay for the class,

Feedback (5-7 minutes) • Correct errors.

Finally after the roleplays,if there is enough time , i will write some of the errors i noted onto the board and ask sts to correct them.
