Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T shows some CDs and cassettes next to the WB and asks sts "what are these?"-Cds, cassettes, music... T puts sts into pairs and ask "Do you listen to music? "Do you like music?" "What kind of music do you like / listen to? pop/rock/jazz?" "Who is your favourite singer/ band?" "What is your favourite song?" Sts talk about these questions and T writes Sts. answers on the board: different types of music, the name of the singers, bands T posts two pictures about Beatles on the WB. One is group photo and the other is Roof top concert photo and asks (pointing to the first Picture) "Who are they? What do you know about them?" What are their names?" Pointing one of the members and asks his name to check what they remember. She elicits information about the band. T puts them in pairs and asks them to talk about the second Picture "rooftop concert" and what do they know about it? T listens to their answers.

Pre-Listening (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

T collects the pictures on the board and asks Why do people write songs? When do they write/sing songs? How do they feel? (When they feel sad or happy or in love) what happens when people love? How do they feel? What do they do? (Target Vocab) T elicits anwers from the sts T shows pictures and demonstrate ("call someone") about target vocabulary 1. "to be in love with sb." (syn.love sb) Sentence: He is in love with her. 2. "feel glad" (syn. feel happy) sentence: The girl feels glad. 3. "feel blue" (syn. feel hapy) sentence: The girl feels blue 4. "hold hands" sentences: She holds his hand. /He holds her hand./They hold each other's hands. 5. call someone I called my mother yesterday and we talked.

While-Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

T chests the HO and gives the instruction: We will listen a song by the Beatles. Listen and choose what the song is about. They listen to the track and circle their answers and they check each other's answers first with their pairs and then with the other pairs.

While-Listening#2 (14-16 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

T puts into pairs and talk about what can be the name of the song. They discuss and decide about the name of the song together. T listens to their answers and pairs (w/c)discuss their answers together. T chests the second page of the HO and gives the instruction: Listen again Fill in the blanks alone (on your own) (Also fill in the name) They listen to the song again and T gets them into pairs and they check their answers together. If they ask again, they will listen to the song one more time. They check their answers with their pairs first and then with the rest of the class. T posts the lyric on the Wall. They check their answers.

Post-Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

T puts sts into pairs and asks them to write a short letter to their best friend. Instruction: Get into pairs write a short letter (5 sentences) about your love T shows them a model and reads it. Sts write in pairs and then each group reads their letter 8if there is time write their letter on the board). They decide the best one.
