Description

In this lesson, the students are going to be introduced to the new reader. The students will brainstorm the characters descriptions, and see what they know or don't know about The Magic School Bus. In addition, there will be a speaking activity where the students will work in pairs and talk about the questions posted on Powerpoint.

Main Aims

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-10 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Lead-In: Bell Work- Language and Writing Skills (L.A.W.S.) Look at the cover of the book, what do you think the book is about? The Ss will work on a bell work that will get them ready to begin the lesson and begin to thinking about the reader.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of the task and highlight useful words and phrases

Brainstorming Map: Magic School Bus. The Ss will brainstorm about information concerning the Magic School Bus. The Ss will give information they know about the book and or the Magic School Bus itself.

Speaking (8-10 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

Pre-Reading Speaking The students will be given a question. The students will work in pairs to discuss the questions. Then the teacher will take WCFB. **Monitor carefully** The teacher will listen for errors.

Character Analysis (6-8 minutes) • To describe the characters by looking at pictures of them.

Introduction to the characters and then a description of them using brainstorming maps.

Revision (5-8 minutes) • To provide students with practice of the task language

Revision: Who are the characters? Describe them. The student will give the teacher some information about the characters from the story.

Lesson Extension (15-20 minutes) • If there is extra time

The students will begin writing the questions for the book
