Description

In this lesson, sts will learn question form of past simple tense. I will start with a question mark and ask sts to make sentences with printed words.Then, I will elicit the question form from sts. Next, sts will do the activities. I will finish a semi-controlled practice

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-10 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will start talking about ' question mark' and hand the printed words out. I will ask sts to make sentences with them and stick them on the board. Sts will work in pairs.

Exposure (10-15 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

I will show the answers and elicit the question words (When, where, what). I will elicit "where and what" from sts. I will show a ferrari on the WB and talk about my accident. I will ask sts to make sentences about it. I will get them to talk. Next, I will hand out activity 1 and sts will do it in pairs.

Clarification (12-15 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

I will clarify the form of the past simple tense wh.. questions by comparing the did ... question form. I will ask sts to remember ' did ' form from my previous lesson. I will try to elicit from them. Then, I will show activity1 on the WB and divide the class in three pairs. Each one will do one sentence. I will hand out activity 2 and ask them to work in pairs.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

I will hand out activity 4. I will check their understanding with this activity. I will monitor sts to see if there is any problem with the wh.. questions.

Semi-Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for speaking accurancy practice

I will introduce the last activity. I will ask sts to work in groups. Group A and B will complete different questions. However, each group has the answers from the text. Group members will ask other group members in order to fill in the blanks. My instructions: " First read. Complete questions. Ask your questions to other group. Write your answers". I will hand out the answer sheet.
