Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will draw a line on the board with the words 'I stay at home at the weekend' on the left, and ' I go out a lot at the weekend' on the right. I will ask students who stays home and who goes out a lot and who goes out some. as an example, I will mark the place on the line that I go out a lot at the weekend. I will write 'at the weekend' on the board and ask students what they do on weekends as well as ask them what activities someone could do during their weekend.

Pre-Reading (8-10 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

I will post several activities on the board and ask students to consider what sorts of questions they might ask about the activities in relationship to the weekend. I will drill them on the activities vocabulary to check for both meaning and pronunciation. After, I will distribute a HO from the SB ' You and your weekend'. Students will work in pairs and they will ask their partner for example: "did you cook meals at the weekend?" They will write a 1 for often and a 0 for never do this activity. Students should answer in full sentences to demonstrate past tense. The will add up their partner's score and share their findings when called on.

While-Reading (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

First I will write today's date on the WB to elicit 'When was last Saturday?" I will then pass out HO_2, a text about Martin's Vacation. Students will read it and answer the reading comprehension questions in gap fill HO_3. After they have finished reading, they can check their answers in PW. I will ask students to answer the questions to the class to be sure they understood.

While-Reading (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

I want sts to skim read this time and underline the verbs in the text. After, I will write some verbs on the board under titles Regular (Verb / Past Tense) and Irregular (Verb / Past Tense).Students will be called on to give the proper past tense of each of the verbs both regular and irregular on the WB. I will afterward give them a length gap fill exercise HO_4 where the must identify correct past tense very forms and put in the blank.Students can work in pairs for this exercise.

Post-Reading/Listening (5-8 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

I will write a few expressions on the WB and have students work in pairs to ask their partner questions formed from the expressions. I will give them a few minutes before I ask them to share what there partners have done over the weekend as FB.
