Procedure

Lead-in (4-6 minutes) • To get Ss engaged in the lesson

Ask some questions like, "How do you come to ITI?, Do you listen to music on the bus?, Do you listen to music in your free time?, What kind of music do you listen?". Write "The Cure" on the board and ask if they know this band. Tell that this band is your favourite and show the handout on which Ss will see the lyrics of a song from the band. Ss listen to the song and fill in the gaps in the song. Ss check their answers in pairs. Get feedback and write the missing words on the board.

Building Vocabulary (5-7 minutes) • To provide practice of the days of the week

Refer Ss to the board and ask what those words are. Elicit 'days of the week'. Do choral and individual drilling. Ask questions like, "What day is it today?, What day is it tomorrow?, What days are the weekend?, What day comes after Monday?". Distribute the handout. Ss write the answers for the questions on the handout.

Building Vocabulary (5-6 minutes) • To provide clarification for the time words and their order

Ss put the time words in a cline. Ss listen to check their answers. Do choral and individual drilling. Ss fill in the gaps with the correct time word and check their answers in pairs. Get feedback.

Clarification (15-17 minutes) • To provide clarification to tell the time

Ss draw the hands on the clocks according to the times given. They check in pairs. Clarify the digital way of saying times and tell Ss that there is a different way of saying times. Draw Ss' attention to the other way of telling the time and clarify them. Ss match the times to the clocks. They check their answers in pairs.

Highlighting (3-5 minutes) • To draw students' attention to asking the time

Ss look at the pictures and fill in the gaps with the words in the box. They check their answers in pairs.

Freer Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide speaking practice of the target language

Put students into new pairs, student A and student B. Ss take turns to ask the times and days of the events and fill in the gaps on their timetable. Ss compare times and days with their partner and check that they are correct. Get feedback.
