In this lesson students will be provided Wh questions for simple present tense. The lesson starts with and introduction to the topic. Teacher will be introducing her/his best friend.

Main Aims

  • Grammar-To provide practice of Wh questions with simple present tense in the context of 'my best friend'.

Subsidiary Aims

  • Speaking - to lead SS in speaking about their best friends using Wh questions
  • Reading-To provide practice of on, in, at prepositions through a reading text

Procedure

Lead-in (2-3 minutes) • To connect this lesson with the previous lesson

Write 'My best friend' on WB and show SS the picture of your best friend. Ask SS who he is. Then uncover the WH questions and answers on the wall. Read the questions and have SS read the answers.

Exposure (6-8 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through pictures

Show other pictures to SS and tell them they are their best friends. then show your picture and have them tell you that the are going to answer the questions about their best friend in the picture. Give them 6 minutes.

Focus on form (6-8 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through pictures

Show other pictures to SS and tell them they are their best friends. Then show your picture and have them tell you that the are going to answer the questions about their best friend in the picture. Give them 6 minutes. After they finish they will check their answers in pairs. T will be monitoring SS and note mistakes on WB and correct with the whole class.

Speaking (2-3 minutes) • To talk about best friends using simple present tense

SS will introduce their best friends using the pictures they have.

Controlled practice (3-4 minutes) • To practice the form of target language

SS compete the blanks in the text working in pairs. They answer the questions as whole class and T will be giving feedback confirming the correct answers or correcting the wrong answers.
