Description

In this lesson, students will learn about echo questions based on listening context, they will listen to four conversations in a restaurant between different people,I will use guide discovery approach in my lesson, my lesson starts by showing a picture and ask them what they can see in the picture, they will have different activities about echo questions, at the end of the lesson they will listen to anther conversation and notice the intonation of echo question.

Main Aims

  • By the end of the lesson students will know how to produce the echo questions in a conversation.

Subsidiary Aims

  • By the end of the lesson, students will develop their listening skill for specific information and learn how to produce the natural intonation of echo questions.

Procedure

Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • to arouse the interest of the ss through the picture.

- T show students a picture - T ask students to look at the picture and ask them a questions about it.

pre-teach (3 minutes) • to prepare students to listen to the CD

- ask students to fill the speech bubbles with suitable echo question from the box.

while-listening (5 minutes) • To provide students with specific information which they have to use to next task

- students are going to listen to the CD to check their answers and prepare them to the next activity.

Post-Listening (7-10 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging specific information listening tasks

- students are going to listen to the CD again. - students are going to work individually and choose the correct answer. - then I am going to ask students to work in pairs and guess which people from conversations said these sentences - I am going to monitor and check their answers.

controlled activity (gap-filling) (5-8 minutes) • to practice the echo questions form.

- students are going to work individually and fill the gaps with the suitable echo question. - after the students finish the gap-filling, they are going to work in pairs and check their answers.

controlled activity (matching activity) (5 minutes) • To provide students with challenging activity.

- students are going to work in group. - I am going to hand out a jumble pieces of paper consist sentences and their echo questions. - students are going to match the sentences with their suitable echo questions.

Controlled Practice (5-7 minutes) • To check understanding

- students are going to work in pairs and find out the rule of echo questions by choosing the right answer in the brackets. - I am going to elicit students their answers. -students are going to check their answers by OHP.

freer activity (5-7 minutes) • To give the students chance to produce the language and develop students fluency speaking.

- ask students to write five interesting things about them-self or people they know in a paper. - ask students to mingle in the class and say their sentences to each others and respond each others with an echo questions.

listening task (7-10 minutes) • To practice students how to recognize the intonation.

- students are going to listen to six conversations and guess which people sound interested(I) or not interested (NI). -student have notice the intonation in the echo questions. -students going to produce the intonation of echo questions.
