In this lesson, students learn about the third conditional. I will clarify the grammar through examples and two activities (receptive and productive skills).

Main Aims

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will ask and elicit about the previous reading text in the reading lesson "bank robbers", Then introduce them to the main aim of our grammar lesson- third conditional-

Clarification (10-12 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

first, I define the meaning of the third conditional and clarify it by eliciting sentences and use CCQ's to make sure that the Ss comprehended .I write the examples on the board , then write the form on the WB. I read the sentence and drill the Ss.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

I tell the students to fill out the blanks with the correct form of verbs in brackets individually, then they discuss it in pairs. I have the ss come to the board and write the answers.

Semi-Controlled Practice (10-12 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

I have the Ss skim the text quickly, and I give them a HO and instruct them to put the sentences in the correct order, discuss with partners..Write answers on WB. Divide the class into groups, then I tell the Ss to scan the text, then write five sentences about the story in the third conditional. Choose students to write down sentences on the board.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

I tell the students to write down five sentences about five important events in their life, But to imagine what would have happened if these events hadn't taken place. They share with partners.
