Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Teacher presents visuals of new words randomly and writes their names on the board. Students are asked to match them and say their names. (correction of pronunciation if needed)

JTM (10-15 minutes) • Build a dialogue between Ss to increase S-S and STT and to review the topics of jobs and free-time activities.

Joseph, Tom and Maria are fictional characters, which have different daily cycles from one another. Teacher presents them, tells a little bit about their attributes and demonstrations a conversation of those three characters, then splits students into 3-member groups and asks them to make conversations alike.

Listening about work-life balance (5-10 minutes) • Provide students with an opinion on work-life balance

The students are to listen a Tapescript that teacher plays. There will be no written exercises, however, teacher may demonstrate a possible discussion on the related topic. If the students seem lost, tapescript will be played again, and the teacher pairs/groups the students for them to have a similar discussion themselves. Teacher monitors.

Are you a Workaholic? (10-12 minutes) • Provide another topic for S-S interaction

1 student, a volunteer is asked to join the teacher for the demo. Teacher demonstrates a conversation based on determining whether a a person is workaholic or not. Teacher then pairs the students, asks them to have a similar conversation, and starts monitoring.

Write about your partner (10-15 minutes) • Provide an outcome of the lesson and test what was understood

Teacher maintains the student pairs and gives them some time to write about their partner. (age, job, likes, responsibilities, etc.) If pairs forget some things about each other, they are allowed to ask one another. If there will be extra time, then the pairs could be changed and the exercise could be repeated.
